In simple terms, the Force.com Toolkit for PHP allows websites running on PHP (like this one) to perform actions on a Salesforce.com
database using the Force.com Web Services SOAP API. From this website we create, update, upsert, delete, merge, search, convert leads, etc. I
think you get the idea. You can also perform a few Metadata API calls like create and delete custom object.

Note: there are two versions of the WSDL included in the toolkit, Enterprise and Partner, the Enterprise WSDL only supports the default Salesforce.com objects while the Partner WSDL doesn't have a dependency on specific object use.
